Kinesis Myofascial Integration

Tom Myers, well known rolfer and anatomist has created a treatment that uses guided movement of the connective tissue around the muscles and in the joints to facilitate change and improved function.

It is a "hands on" method of manipulation therapy using movement as the key facilitator for change.

If we consider the body is never stationary - even when we sleep, breathing keeps our body active - there will always be an area of the body overworked and compensating for another tightened or held part of the body.

This is not to mention the strain imbalances have on our spine, which could be compared to the stress on the internal pole of the damaged circus tent.

There are many ways in which our carriage changes due to bad postural habits and after effects of injury or trauma.

The common misalignment of rounded shoulders and a forward head tilt could be caused by sitting at a desk in a stressful job, playing sport, pregnancy or even a shy, introverted, personality.

This skeletal system gets slowly pulled out of place and the body fights with gravity, setting up further tensions and can put unnecessary strain on other parts of the body such as the lower back, the knees or areas around the hips.

KMI helps alleviate less efficient and awkward movements by overcoming these compensations by treating the system as a whole and not just curing the symptoms.

For best results KMI is completed over 12 sessions. This covers the entire body and the results are long lasting, as the body adjusts for months and ever years after the treatment.

Even one session, or a series of less than 12, can have beneficial effects to suit your individual needs.
