SEAN O'LEARY

I originally obtained a Bachelor of Science with majors in Human Movement and Psychology at Deakin University in Melbourne, Australia. During this period in the early nineties I achieved a national swimming ranking for the 50 metres Freestyle before a shoulder injury stopped my attempt to make the Olympic team.

Sport has always been a large part of my life but injuries have limited my success. This led me to helping others with their physical pursuits from teaching and coaching swimming to Personal Training. I became more aware of the mind/ body relationship to exercise after I moved to London in 2000 which led to studies in Stott Pilates. After using a Pilates base for my personal training and intrigued with the effect of my own practice of Yoga, I noticed how helping people improve their relationship with gravity led to a more balanced mind.

I was frustrated with many conventional approaches to overcoming my own chronic problems until I received a series of KMI sessions. It was the first time in fifteen years after an exhaustive search that I could feel more permanent ease and freedom in my body. This inspired me become a KMI Practitioner, which led to numerous trips to the US to study with Tom Myers’ groundbreaking Kinesis School to learn this innovative method. Tom gained world wide recognition for showing a strong scientific base to the mind/body connection by working with the fascia and I am one of the few fortunate graduates of the Kinesis School who can help people integrate and move with more grace and ease long after their sessions have finished. Little did I realise how intertwined my originally separate studies of the mind and body were and this has been the key to helping myself and others overcome pain and dysfunction.
